All blinds sold in Ireland must meet the requirements of Irish Standard I.S. EN 13120:2009, which is aimed at eliminating strangulation hazards from blind cords. Before purchasing a blind, make sure the supplier can confirm the following:
The blind is manufactured to the Irish safety standard. A warning notice is attached. A safety solution is provided and fitted in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The supplier can demonstrate the product’s safe use. The blind is installed according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
We also carry out safety audits for homes, schools and businesses with existing blinds. Any retrofit work required to make blinds safe is charged at minimum cost in the interest of safety. If you have concerns, get in touch — we’re happy to help.
